Stereotypes.

So I decided I'll just write about my experience as a pledge. Yes...I'm one of those girls. In 4 more weeks (3 down) I'll officially be a sorority girl. STOP JUDGING! I hate when people are ignorant and have preconceptions about greek life. Ignore the tv shows and movies you've seen. It's nothing like that. I've never seen/felt more love from a group of people then I have from my pledge class and the sisters. You wouldn't understand even if you tried. But anyway I've decided that I hate this kind of weather, it makes me sleepy and I'm craving hot coco by a fire. Don't ask. Too bad I haven't gotten real sleep in weeks. School and sorority are taking over my life. I called my mom for the first time in weeks to let her no I was still alive. She thought I fell off the face of the Earth. Typical. I think I actually had about an hour of free time today. Instead of napping like a normal college student I was studying so I wouldn't fail at life anymore. I miss naps. I miss getting more then 4 hours of sleep at night. Oh well, sleep is for the weak. Kidding. It'll all be worth it in a few weeks when I'm finally GREEK =) I still love my life.

PS.
If one more person tells me that I'm "paying" for friends by pledging I might snap. For those of you who don't know, the money or "dues" everyone pays for in a sorority or frat is just like dues sport teams or other student organizations pay. It goes to pay for insurance, functions, fundrasing events, recruitment, national events, etc. So before you judge a sorority girl and think we just party....ask yourself what have i done to change the world? The other day we picked up trash on the streets. We also collected over 400 bucks to go to camp Dreamcatcher (a camp for children affected by aids and HIV). In November we're hosting an event to raise money for breast cancer. We do more than party. We do things for the community and for the world. So stop judging! It's getting old....

  1. I think this is such a good idea to blog about, because, youre right! A lot of people do not understand GREEK life unless they are apart of it. I, myself am not GREEK but I have a lot of friends who are and they love it. I am happy for them and think it's great that they are so passionate about it just as you are! Good Luck! I hope everything goes well!
